Must-Have Event Planning Tool

As an association management executive it is part of my job to plan events for my clients. Whether it is a small event for an Executive Board of five, or a large event for hundreds, my clients depend on me to make their events successful. In order to fulfill the needs of my clients, I must be organized and must pay close attention to detail. Although I am extremely organized and pride myself on being meticulous, I am always looking for ways to streamline certain aspects of the event planning process. After doing some research online, I have found an app for the iPhone, specifically designed for event planners, called Super Planner.

Super Planner was created by Howard Givner, “founder of Paint The Town Red, Inc., and the former CEO of North America for Global Events Group, the 13th largest event agency in the world, which acquired Paint The Town Red in 2008. During his tenure the company won over 30 industry awards” (www.howardgivner.com).

“Winner of the 2010 BizBash Event Style Award for Most Innovative New Product, and the 2011 Special Events Magazine Gala Award for Best New Product / Service” (www.howardgivner.com), the Super Planner is an app to help event planners with details such as food and beverage planning, audio visual set-up and venue capacity management. The application offers several different calculators, from configuring the best seating arrangement for the size of banquet room, to how many hors d’oeuvres are needed per person, to what the event expenses should total.

Although some of the information included on the app is better suited for someone working at an event venue rather than an event planner, its ability to compile pertinent site information in a single mobile location makes it certainly worth the cost. Making sure you are not overpaying for a venue is not only important to you as the event planner but to your client as well, so make sure you know where their money is going.
